The Sea of Mist of Phetchaburi

Highlights of Khao Pha Nern Thung
The best time to visit Khao Pha Nern Thung is from late rainy season to early winter (September to February). During this period, you can almost daily witness the white sea of mist floating gently over the mountain range, especially early in the morning. The sunrise combined with the mist creates a magical atmosphere that feels like stepping into another world.
Stargazing and the Milky Way
At night, there is no city light pollution here, allowing for a clear view of the stars filling the sky. Especially during the summer season, you can capture stunning photos of the Milky Way. Its truly a paradise for those who love nighttime sky photography.
Wildlife Trails
The area on the way up to Khao Pha Nern Thung is one of the trails frequently used by wild elephants and many other wildlife species. Visitors have the chance to see wild elephants, dholes, hornbills, serows, and even tiger footprints. It is a natural forest area that remains highly pristine and well-preserved.
How to Travel to Pha Nern Thung Hill
- Distance from Kaeng Krachan National Park Office: approximately 50 kilometers
- Only 4WD vehicles are allowed due to the dirt and steep roads, crossing several water channels and streams.
- Ascent: 05:30 07:30 hrs
- Descent: 13:00 15:00 hrs.
- Visitors must register and obtain permission at the Visitor Center before heading up.
- If you do not have a 4WD vehicle, you can rent one with a licensed driver approved by the national park.
Facilities on Phanoen Thung Mountain:
Camping Area: A designated space for pitching tents near the viewpoint, complete with restrooms and dishwashing stations.
No Shops/Electricity: You should bring your own food, drinking water, and flashlight.
There is no mobile signal in certain areas: It is recommended to inform your family or relatives before going up the mountain.
Things to Know Before You Go
1.Bring a jacket or windbreaker Even outside of winter, mornings on the mountain can be very chilly.
2.Keep noise to a minimum The area is home to many wild animals and should be respected.
3.Do not litter or feed the animals Help preserve the natural environment.
4.Travel in groups and notify park officials Always inform the staff before heading up the mountain for safety reasons.
